The Crewe and Nantwich Community Radio Society was formed in January 2008 and since then The Cat radio station has gone from strength to strength. The Cat has broadcast three Restricted Service Licenses, the most recent being in July/August 2010 and for over a year has been broadcasting on the internet with a diverse range of programming being made available to the Crewe and Nantwich community and those now living further afield.
The society's first home was at The M Club in Crewe but in September 2009 we realised there was a need for more space and since November 2009 we have been broadcasting from our current studio at Frederick House in Nantwich.
There are almost 50 paid up members of the society. New members are always welcome. Membership costs £10 per month, paid monthly via standing order or 6 or 12 monthly by cheque. Most of the members are presenters but there are some who want to get involved behind the scenes. We welcome new members who want to be either presenters or part of our back room team, all we ask for is commitment. If you would like to get involved, please email office@thisisthecat.com.
The society is a not for profit Social Enterprise and all our funds come from member subscriptions, support from local businesses who advertise on the station and fundraising events organised by the members. It costs around £5000 to broadcast a 28 day licence and in the region of £3000 per annum to operate an internet radio station so support from local business is vital.

The society has an asset base of equipment worth in the region of £10,000 and we are continually updating our equipment when finances allow.
Our long term goal is to provide a full time community radio station for Crewe and Nantwich and all our efforts are geared towards this. If you want to support us in this aim then please write to the station expressing your support.
